# Configuring Blinq for Outlook

> Control when contacts export to Outlook, keep existing records updated, and export on demand.

Open **Settings → Integrations → Outlook** to control how contacts export. These settings apply to your whole workspace.

## Export settings

| Setting                                | Behavior                                                                      |
| -------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Automatically export new contacts** | New Blinq contacts sync to Outlook as they're captured. |
| **Automatically sync contact updates** | Changes made to a contact in Blinq are pushed to the matching Outlook record. |

Turn the options on or off, then select **Save**.

## Exporting on demand

You can export at any time without waiting for new captures:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your contacts">
    Go to the **Contacts** page in the Blinq dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Outlook">
    Select the **Export Contacts** dropdown, then **To Outlook**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the export">
    Select **Export contacts**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  Contacts that have already been exported are updated rather than duplicated, so it's safe to run this more than once.
</Info>

## What reaches Outlook

Each exported contact carries across their name, email address, phone number, job title and company, along with any notes recorded in Blinq — including AI Notetaker summaries — and their Blinq tags, which arrive as Outlook categories.

<Warning>
  **Notes arrive as plain text.** Outlook's notes field doesn't accept formatting, so anything styled in Blinq is flattened when it exports.
</Warning>

## If a team member's contacts aren't arriving

Check these in order:

1. **Do they have a team card?** Someone with no card, or on a personal card, has their captures saved as personal contacts, which never export and never raise an error.
2. **Does their Blinq profile email match their Microsoft 365 mailbox exactly?** Contacts sync into the mailbox of the person who captured them, matched on that address.
3. **Is anyone listed against the contact in the Created by column?** Contacts with no creator aren't exported.

If all three check out, email [support@blinq.me](mailto:support@blinq.me) with the affected email addresses and roughly when the contacts were captured.
